Abstract

Dive into the past with the technologies of the future - submerged coastal archaeology exploration:University of Zagreb requests funding from the ONRG Visiting Scientist Program to support travel to Caeasarea, Isreal to meet with and explore collaborative opportunities with the US Naval Research Enterprise. This proposed visit will leverage from a joint effort between other DoD funded research and the Israel Antiquities Authority (Israel Research funding) which will provide logistics support (including ships, cranes, etc. that will support the equipment/ process for the Croatian PIs). US Navy participants include Office of Naval Research, SPAWAR-Pacific and the Program Officers from the Naval Research Laboratory. This visit will enable exploration of future research ideas and real time operational testing with several Autonomous Unmanned Surface vehicles (ASVs) equipped with variety of remote sensing payload and other sensors of interest to the NRE. Participation may also enable real time development of new algorithms and possibly data acquisition strategies of interest to the US Naval Research Enterprise. The PIs will bring several pieces of equipment to the test site to explore future research possibilities. VSP funds requested are for three PIs and funds to ship USVs and other equipment. This event also provides an opportunity to increase Global Technical Awareness of Croatia capabilities
