CSP - GCREEDER - 2016

Abstract

Technical:GCREEDER 2016 is the 5th global conference on renewables and energy efficiency for desert regions follows four successful conferences in 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2013. It will be held in Amman from 4-6 April, 2016. This conference is organized by the University of Jordan, in cooperation with other Universities and stakeholders in Jordan. Also, there is an international collaboration to organize the conference through the participation of Desertec University Network (DUN) in Tunisia. GCREEDER will cover many energy topics including; Energy Resources, Applications and technologies of renewableenergy, Energy efficient and green buildings, Grid connected renewable energy systems, Energy efficiency and management, Energy economics and financing policies, Energy regulations andpolicies, Environmental aspects of energy systems, Carbon footprint, Climate Change, Energy storage systems, Energy conversion systems, Fuel cells, Water/energy/food nexus, Nano energy and energy harvesting. Relevance:GCREEDER 2016 mainly supports the Power & Energy focus area of the Naval S&T Strategic Plan, and also could serve the other focus areas to a lesser extent including (Assure Access to Maritime Battle space, Autonomy and Unmanned Systems, and Platform Design and Survivability). Papers that will be presented in this conference may lead to new approaches, new knowledge and technologies that will help in solving energy problems (High price of fossil energy and its negative impact on environment) and to achieve greater energy efficiency, reduce the consumption and increase the use of alternative energy sources. Coordination:Army RFEC Atlantic (Jen Becker) may co-fund this workshop with funding from ARO. Conference program will be shared with Code 33 and any resulting tech of interest following receipt of final report. Outcome:AD participation at the conference and receipt of the the final report will provide ONRG with insight into advances in renewable energy technology and research advances in the Middle East/North Africa. The conference will hopefully help identify more excellent researchers in Jordan who can be informed of NICOP funding opportunities as well.
