CSP - 12TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF NEUROETHOLOGY
Abstract
The meeting is designed to incorporate discussion of brain function at different levels of analysis (from molecular mechanisms to neural networks and evolutionary theory) using a wide range of tools and techniques (including those drawn from physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, signal processing, molecular biology, genomics, field observations, psychophysics, neuroanatomy, and neurophysiology) and examined in a diversity of invertebrate and vertebrate species. These different approaches are bound together by a common fundamental goal: to uncover neural, computational and design solutions to natural biological problems in particular species that, once identified, can most easily be explained, manipulated and, ultimately, implemented technologically. This meeting has applicability to a number of areas of interest to ONR, including marine biology, navigation, efficient behavioral performance, target detection, and decision making under conditions of uncertainty. In addition to bringing together the world s leading scientists in the field of neuroethology, this meeting provides an opportunity for access to the top researchers in Latin America, and especially Uruguay, where ONRG has had few grants in the past.
