VSP - Travel Support for Technical Meetings with NUWC and PSU Researchers on Transducer Material Development

Abstract

Travel Support for Technical Meetings with NUWC and PSU Researchers on Transducer Material Development Dr. Shujun Zhang is a leading expert on relaxor ferroelectrics, an important class of material for the next generation Navy sonar transducers. He has written multiple seminal review papers on the development and status of piezoelectric single crystals. On the other hand, the 2016 International Workshop on Acoustic Transducer Materials and Devices (IWATMD), an invitation-only event, is the premium event for transducer material developers and application engineers worldwide to exchange technical information. Dr. Zhang certainly will be a contributor at the Workshop. Dr. Zhang moved from The Pennsylvania State University to the University of Wollongong in Australia in late 2015. This VSP funding will also allow him to stay connected to the transducer materials community, including Navy researchers, while establishing his research portfolio. This VSP is coordinated with Dr. Wallace Smith of ONR 332.
