CSP - AUV 2016 workshop: Advanced AUV technologies will be presented and discussed during the workshop period
Abstract
AUV 2016 is the latest in the series of international autonomous underwater vehicle workshops organized by the IEEE Ocean Engineering Society (OES). The most recent one, AUV 2014 held in October 2014 at the University of Mississippi campus, was hosted by Ole Miss, USM and NIUST, and attended by ~130 leading AUV researchers from the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Germany, ROK, Czech Republic, and Cypress. (The proceedings papers are available at IEEE Xplore: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/mostRecentIssue.jsp?punumber=7041307)Supporting this workshop would be beneficial to ONRG for the following reasons: (1) The UUV technologies are important to ONR, under the Battlespace Access and Autonomy Focus Areas. (2) This series of workshops attract leading UUV researchers from around the globe. This one, in particular, is expected to attract leading researchers from the Western Pacific nations. Supporting and facilitating their discussion would potentially yield innovations and breakthroughs that would benefit the future Naval operations. (3) By presenting ONR as part of the international UUV research community, ONR will be able to remain effective at keeping up with the advancement, innovations and breakthroughs that will come out of this community.
