CSP - Electric field assisted sintering and related phenomena far from equilibrium conference
Abstract
The Engineering Conferences International (ECI) Symposium on Electric Field Assisted Sintering and Related Phenomena Far From Equilibrium is the first international conference in the area of the fundamental science that underlies electrical and electromagnetic fields driven sintering processes that enable time and cost efficient processing of bulk ceramics material presenting innovations in the field with respect to theory and practice. The ECI Symposium on Electric Field Assisted Sintering and Related Phenomena Far From Equilibrium provides a forum for the presentation of high-quality, original research covering various aspects of these structural material systems. The field relies on a broad and interdisciplinary range of science including both theoretical and experimental developments. This symposium will bring together experts in solid mechanics, engineering, materials science, chemistry and physics to explore recent breakthoughs and emerging opportunities to efficiently develop novel ceramic based systems with superior properties through the use of electrical and electromagnetic fields which influence the generation and the movement of defects and control mass transport in ionic ceramics. The convergence of results from flash sintering, SPS, microwave sintering, and underlying electro-chemomechanical phenomena is creating the opportunity for a fundamental understanding of the scientific mechanisms and formulations for field induced effects in ceramics at the molecular level. The goal of the meeting is to provide a forum for the sharing of ideas, and to enhance communication among this diverse group of technical experts, thereby contributing to future advances in the field. This meeting provides a single venue to review technical progress of this international research community and provide guidance to the NRE, particularly ONR 30, 33 and 35, of the development in the area of structural material and mechanics systems and its use for designing and implementing advanced platforms and weapon systems with superior performance to current systems using materials that are much stronger, lighter, and with greater endurance in harsh environment than those currently available
