CSP - CNNA 2016 - 15th International Workshop on Cellular Nanoscale Networks and their Applications & 5th Memristor and Memristive Symposium

Abstract

CNNA 2016 - 15th International Workshop on Cellular Nanoscale Networks and their Applications & 5th Memristor and Memristive Sympo:The Navy is highly reliant upon information dominance to support its operations. It s essential that the Navy has access to the best computing technology, especially that geared for specialized applications with low power requirements. This computing technology must fit into severely space constrained and power constrained spaces in platforms and vehicles. This is a much different requirement than the DOE supercomputing push for exascale. For Navy requirements there is a strong demand for nano-scale technologies with lower power dissipation, intelligent bio-inspired machines, massively parallel architectures at the chip level with learning capabilities and memristive systems. The CNNA 2016 has historically been the world s best forum for presenting the latest advances in this technology. The Navy has sponsored this area for many years and was a supporter of the CNNA meeting in 2002. I have contacted the current ONR PM for this Chagan Bataar who has endorsed support for this meeting. In the past he has spoken at and attended this meeting. The required ONR investment is very reasonable--$6251 and will be used only to support the 5 principal European speakers at the meeting. The organizer Dr Tetzlaff from Dresden is highly regarded in this field and his role on the organizing meeting will ensure a successful meeting. I recommend this funding and expect that this conference will illuminate new results and approaches that can be used by the Navy and the Naval industrial base to provide advanced capabilities.
