CSP - The 10th International Meeting on Electrowetting
Abstract
The 10th International Meeting on ElectrowettingTechnical: Electrowetting is a microfluidic phenomenon that is currently enjoying explosive growth as a driving mechanism for a wide range of fluidic and electro-optic applications. It involves the modification of surface tension/wettability under an applied electric field. The meeting covers a wide scope of electrowetting from fundamental to applications. Many of the applications has been commercialized or developed for products used in drag force reduction for boat surfaces, light focusing lenses and prisms for solar energy collection, bio-fluid manipulation for point-of-care lab-on-a-chip, low cost reflective electronic displays, and other emerging application. Key topics of the meeting include: lab on a chip, materials & fabrication, modeling, optics & electronics, electro-droplet interaction, energy & environment, and related emerging topics.b. Relevance: The symposium and the resulted scientific exchange will contribute to the knowledge for the Naval S&T Strategic Plan~s focus areas of Autonomy and Unmanned Systems and Power and Energy.c. Coordination: NRL 6300 (Materials Division) and 5700 (Tactical Electronic Warfare Division)d. Desired Outcome: (1) meaningful information exchange and discussion of research ideas, (2) up-to-date information on technology status, and (3) collection of meeting material for future reference and analysis.
