14th Latin American Conference on Physical Organic Chemistry (CLAFQO-14)

Abstract

14th Latin American Conference on Physical Organic Chemistry (CLAFQO-14), to be held in Conc~n, Valparaiso region, Chile, from May 7"" to 11, 2017. CLAFQO-14 is the single most important Latin-American Conference for chemists active in physical organic chemistry, wh""ich took place for first time in 1982 in Brazil. The scientific program will consist of plenary (9) and invited lectures (16), oral"" presentations (~20) and poster sessions (~90). We anticipate a highly stimulating conference in Conc~n, attended by scientists from" both Hemispheres. We account with the support of The Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry to publish in a special issue from CLAFQO-14. The Conferences provide an excellent opportunity to present the important advances that have occurred in the area of physical" organic chemistry, exchange ideas in both, formal and informal ways, and renew personal contacts with friends and colleagues not on""ly from Latin America, but from all over the world.Among the diverse fields boarded by plenary and invited lecturers in CLAFQO-14," we can find: Design and synthesis of energetic materials as organic photovoltaic compounds (dye sensitizer) and their application in highly efficient solar cells. Photochemistry applied to supramolecular chemistry for the development of molecular sensors. Predict"ion of the reactivity, selectivity and site activation using density functional theory in materials and organic reactions. In additi""on, most of research lines of the plenary and invited lecturers involve innovative scientific studies that contribute to the develop""ment of solutions in the field of energetic materials, molecular sensors and predictions of materials properties in silico. These su"bjects arouse general interest in the scientific community and they present a particular interest for the Naval science and technology.
