Abstract
Please provide an abstract that includes a brief description of the program or event that includes the following: 1. -The technical and scientific objectives of the program or event. 2. -Specify how this event or related outcomes will contribute to or support the US Naval or Marine Corp Science & Technology Plan and identify specific focus areas that will be addressed. 3. -Identify the names of invited speakers and/or distinguished guests including any Office of Naval Research Program Officers or other Naval Research Enterprise (NRE) personnel that are expected to participate in this event. 4. -State the desired outcomes of this event (e.g. confe"rence proceedings, journal articles, algorithms, tools, additional research etc.) Take as many pages as necessary. This is to be attached to the grants.gov Project Abstract Form.The Philippines Grant Workshop 2017 aims to provide researchers in the Philippines an overview of international grant opportunities from the US Department of State (DoS) and Department of Defense (DoD). The workshop will present tips on how to write successful grants and introduce them to some of the administrative requirements. This includes registe"ring their university in required systems, and how to submit grants to the US grants.gov system. Most importantly, the workshop shou"ld provide an opportunity for researchers to meet face-to-face with points of contact within the US DoS and DoD so that they feel comfortable reaching out with research ideas. Five speakers (three international + 2 local speakers) will be invited to give talks on various international grant opportunities from the US DoS and US DoD. The three international speakers will provide an overview" of the opportunities from the following US government agencies: US Army International Technology Center Pacific (ITC-PAC), Asian Of""fice of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD), and the Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG). The two invited local speakers w""ill be from the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Manila, and will give an overview of the USAID PEER (United States Agenc""y for International Development Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research) and STRIDE (Science, Technology, Research, and Inn"ovation for Development) opportunities.
