NICOP - Cubesat Clusters as Adaptive Orbital Networks

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research will study nanosatellite-based, adaptive, self-organizing orbital networks. Such networks would extend mob""ile surface tactical networking, allowing optimization of node performance based on changing mission tasks. We will explore use of"" cubesat mesh networking nodes as intermittent orbital hubs, and focus on optimizing the cubesat cluster spatial geometry for maximi""zing connectivity. This includes investigation of relative geometries among satellites, and development of orbital control methods t"hat would guarantee efficient use of propellant.
