CSP - Proposal for 21st International Conference on Solid State Ionics
Abstract
The International Conference on Solid State Ionics is a major event in the field, which is heldevery two years and attracts a world""wide audience. It provides an unparalleled opportunity togather leading international scientists and engineers, top-level industria""l, management andbusiness executives to discuss all the different aspects of the science, technology andapplications of ion-conduc"ting materials. The conference facilitates the exchange of ideasbetween people with different backgrounds and fosters the development and professionalgrowth of both young and experienced researchers alike. The 21st edition of the International Conference on Soli"d State Ionics (SSI-21) will beheld in Padua, Italy, between 18 and 23 June 2017. SSI-21 is chaired by Prof. Vito DiNoto, Universi""ty of Padova, Italy, and is co-chaired by Prof. Harry Tuller, MIT, USA. Morethan 1000 contributions have already been submitted to"" SSI-21, making it one of themost highly attended conferences in this field worldwide. The activities of SSI-21 are articulated int""o topical Symposia, arranged into up to 14-16parallel sessions; for the sake of classification, the latter are grouped into a few M"acro-Areas depending on the practical application of the results.Macro-Area 1: Ionics in Energy and EnvironmentThese symposia wil"l be focused on the research on solid-state ionic materials for energyconversion and storage systems, such as fuel cells and electr""olyzers, redox flow batteries, primary and secondary batteries, supercapacitors and ultracapacitors, photovoltaic devices, apparatus"es for thermochemical energy storage and water/CO2 splitting.Macro-Area 2: Ionics in Communication and RoboticsThese symposia will cover all the different aspects of ionics science and technology aimedat the development of advanced materials and systems for application in the informationand communication technology field and in robotics.Macro-Area 3: Ionics in Biological systems and Life" sciencesThese symposia will explore the impact of ionics in biological systems, covering areas suchas ion transport through membr""anes, the detection and transduction of stimuli, and theinterfacing between biological and artificial systems.Macro-Area 4: Genera""l Aspects, Fundamentals and Theory in ion-conductingmaterialsSSI-21 will also welcome and emphasize fundamental contributions on s""everal researchareas, including but not limited to: ~cross-effect~ phenomena; mesoscale phenomena; highfieldeffects; implementatio"n of advanced characterization techniques; computationalmodeling and simulations. The best contributions presented at SSI-21 will b"e published on a Special Issue of theJournal ~Solid State Ionics~ (ISSN: 0167-2738, Impact Factor: 2.380) published by Elsevieraft"er a rigorous ~peer review~ process. The most updated info on SSI-21 can be retrieved at the following URL:http://www.chimica.unipd.it/ssi21/
