CSP - Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment. Data Assimilation Task Team meeting 2017.

Abstract

The Data Assimilation-TT (DA-TT) fosters the development and evaluation of dataassimilation systems to support the coordination of" the fundamental and challenging issues inthe ocean forecasting process, of which data assimilation is a significant part. The DA-T""T iscoordinated and led by two co-chairs, Matthew Martin, Met Office, UK and Andy Moore, TheUniversity of California Santa Cruz, U"SA. The DA-TT is made up of experts from the nationalprogrammes of GOV and experts in universities and other research groups with a"n interest inocean, sea-ice and coupled DA. The scope of the task team is defined as covering all the aspectsof data assimilation"" process including: global, regional and coastal scales ocean dataassimilation used for short and seasonal forecasting and reanalys""is; physical ocean and sea-iceas well as coupled ocean/atmosphere/sea-ice/waves and biogeochemical DA, also theoreticaland practic""al implementation issues are covered. The DA-TT organizes meeting of the TT members, and other groups to provide a forum fordiscuss"ion of progress in focus and other priority areas. Observation and modelling expertswith an interest in the data assimilation process and its outputs are also invited to meetings inorder to enable communication of developments and results.
