METAMATERIALS 2017 - The Eleventh International Congress on Engineered Material Platforms for Novel Wave Phenomena

Abstract

Metamaterials 2017The 11th International Congress on Engineered Material Platforms for NovelWave PhenomenaIntroductionThe Eleven"th International Congress on Engineered Material Platforms for Novel Wave Phenomena ~Metamaterials 2017, will comprise a 4-day Conf""erence (28~31 August), and a 2-day Doctoral School(1~2 September). It is organized by the Metamorphose Virtual Institute (www.metam"orphose-vi.org)and hosted by the Institut Fresnel of Marseille. The scientific contributions are recorded on CD-ROMsor in USB Memory sticks and distributed to the participants. A course of the European Doctoral Schoolon Metamaterials operated by the Metamorphose Virtual Institute will be held in conjunction with theCongress (1-2 September 2017). This event will represent a unique opportunity for students and youngresearchers to get exposure to the latest advancements in the field of metamaterials and to meet theleading experts in this rapidly developing field. Information about the School will also be posted at thewebsite of the European Doctoral Programs on Metamaterials ~ EUPROMETA(http://school.metamorphose-vi.org/).All student participants are invited to enter competition for the beststudent paper. A few travel grants will be provided for students and delegates presenting oral papers. Objectives and backgroundThe Congress will provide a unique forum to share the latest results of the metamaterials research andbring together t"he engineering, physics, and material science communities working in the field ofartificial electromagnetic materials and their app""lications at microwaves, millimeter waves, terahertz, and optical frequencies. This Congress follows the success of Metamaterials 20"07-2016 and continuesthe traditions of the highly successful series of International Conferences on Complex Media andMetamaterials (Bianisotropics) and Rome International Workshops on Metamaterials and SpecialMaterials for Electromagnetic Applications and TLC. The Conference programme will include threeplenary talks given by the eminent researchers in the field of metamaterials. Keynote t"alks will addresshot topics in metamaterials research and leading experts will present invited talks, which will review thestate-o"f-the-art and address the latest advancements in their respective areas. The technical oral talksand interactive poster sessions wi"ll encompass a broad range of themes, from fundamentalelectromagnetic theory of metamaterials and complex electromagnetic media to" innovative microwaveand optical devices. The conference scope includes but is not limited to the following topics:~ Physics of complex electromagnetic materials~ Analytical and numerical modelling of metamaterials~ Homogenization of metamaterials and effective medium models~ Three-dimensional metamaterials~ Planar metamaterials and meta-surfaces~ Carbon nanotubes and graphene in metama"terials~ Nonlinear, tunable and reconfigurable metamaterials~ Active and absorption-free metamaterials~ Chiral and bianisotropic" composites~ Metamaterials with extreme parameters~ Quantum metamaterials~ Superconducting metamaterials~ Nonreciprocal metamate"rials~ Plasmonics~ Extraordinary transmission~ EBG structures, photonic crystals, and their applications
