CSP - National Meeting of the Mexican Carbon Association

Abstract

The Mexican Carbon Association (AMEXCarb) was founded in November 2014. It is a non-profitorganization, which organizes biannual na"tional conferences to get together the several research groupsand industries that contribute to the research and application of carbon materials in Mexico. This allowscollaboration between industry-academy and between researchers as well. The AMEXCarb meetings a"re a forum for sharing the latest scientific and technical developments incarbon materials. The event expects professors, scientist""s, engineers, students and industry leaders tocome from around the country to attend the technical conferences and poster sessions."" The scientificprogram of the meeting will cover fundamentals of adsorption, activated carbon, composites, surfactantand carbon na""nostructures synthesis, catalytic, magnetic and electrochemical properties of carbonmaterials, as well as more applied aspects rela""ted to carbon materials science, such as applications ofcarbon materials in energy storage (electric power and renewable energy) an""d conversion, medical andenvironmental sciences. It is important to mention that the topics considered in this event are of highre""levance in fundamental and applied science, hence the interest in encouraging the participation ofboth scientists and students. Thi"s will contribute to the academic update of the participants from thedifferent national educational institutions and industry. This" national meeting will serve as a platform to publicize the activities of the Mexican CarbonAssociation, which will host the Latin"" American Carbon Federation in 2020.The AMEXCarb2017 will have the pleasure to host four plenary speakers of international renown,"" fromdifferent countries: Prof. Conchi O. Ania (Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS)-Orleans,France), Prof. Elena G""olovotaya (Universidad Nacional Aut~noma de Mexico (UNAM) ~CCADET,Mexico), Dr. Jacek Jagiello (Micromeritics, USA), and Prof. Juan"" Matos Lale (Universidad deConcepci~n (UdC), Chile). Also, the AMEXCarb2017 has established a Scientific Meeting Committee(SMC) th""at involves eight outstanding scientists, leaders of research groups, members of differentscientific and technological research Mex""ican institutions. The AMEXCarb2017 is going to take place at the Instituto Potosino de Investigacion Cientifica yTecnologica, A.C."", (IPICYT), which is a public research center, a member of the CONACyT (NationalCouncil for Science and Technology) system that cul""tivates the natural and exact sciences, with a highlyspecialized multidisciplinary academic groups and first class infrastructure."" The IPICYT is located atSan Luis Potosi City, the capital and the most populated city of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. The"" metropolitan area is the eleventh largest in Mexico, and has been recently promoted as a touristicdestination in central Mexico by" state and federal programs.
