CSP - The 16th IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality
Abstract
ISMAR is the leading annual scientific conference dedicated to augmented and mixed reality(MR/AR). MR/AR technology is an information technology that enables human to interact withcomputers via digitally captured information presented in a real environment in real-time.MR/AR technologies have been applied to a variety of different fields including:- medical surgery- product design and ass"embly- education, entertainment- daily living support by visual information presentation- visual simulation of environmentISMAR" is mainly focusing of the science and technology aspect of MR/AR. The technology thatISMAR tries to develop can also be used in the context of information dominance of Naval S&Tstrategy. We expected that more than 400 international academic and industrial resea"rchers will attendISMAR 2017 from United States, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Japan. The expected participantsinclude members of ste""ering committee of ISMAR, members of ACM (Association for ComputingMachinery), and IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronic""s Engineers, Inc.). Ex-programchairs and general chairs of past ISMAR conferences will also attend ISMAR 2017.The main outcome of"" the conference is the presented papers, which are selected through anextensive peer reviewing process. Papers ready for journal pu"blication will be directly publishedin a special issue of IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG). Otherac"cepted papers will be published in the ISMAR proceedings. In addition to those reviewedpapers, extended abstracts of poster present""ations and demonstrations are also included in theconference proceedings. Videos are also provided by some authors of the papers, p""osters, anddemonstrations. Moreover, ISMAR 2017 also involves workshops and tutorials proposed by the workshoporganizers and tutor"ial lecturers. Research papers presented during workshops are also includedin the conference proceedings.ISMAR 2017 will also host" a competition related to state-of-art tracking technologies for MR/AR.By having the competition, benchmarking datasets are also ge"nerated and archived for thefuture research and its evaluation of MR/AR.
