Abstract

This project is related to the organization of the next International Symposium on Physics and Applications of Laser Dynamics (IS-PA"LD) to be held in Paris from Nov. 15-17, 2017. The sponsorship from the ONR will help us to keep up the good work hence increasing t"he international visibility of the symposium. ISPALD was born in 2011 in Taiwan under the guidance of Professor Jia-Ming Liu from UC"LA. Since 2013, the conference has been growing up and rotating between France and Taiwan. Throughout the conference, we want to str""ongly encourage the exchange of research ideas and to increase the possibility of research collaborations, as well as the submission" of original papers. Both oral and poster presentations are welcome. This conference is nowadays one of the major event in the field of laser dynamics hence widely spreading out across the world. The symposium has a high degree of penetration since the dynamics of lasers is a very important field of research for the Department of Defense and Homeland Security. There are many applications out o"f such a field including compact packaged secure communication systems, improved RF transmission links, embedded systems, microwave"" photonic generation, optical countermeasures, vision blinding, disruptive technologies, etc.At ISPALD, we want to promote the scie"ntific excellence hence keynote and invited speakers are all well-known scientists highly recognized in the field. Contributed papers are solicited in the following topics of laser dynamics covered by the symposium:The topics include but are not limited to:Photonic crystal lasersNanostructured lasersSurface emitting lasersLasers on siliconAll-optical processing using semiconductor lasers" and amplifiersShort pulse lasers and mode-locked lasers, modulation dynamics, noise, etc.Comb generation and optical millimeter w""ave generationHigh-Power LasersQuantum cascade lasers, interband cascade lasersCavity solitonsRogue waves and extreme eventsPhy""sics and engineering of nonlinear laser dynamics, including stability, bistability, periodic and aperiodic dynamics, and chaosGener""ation, measurement, shaping, and processing of diverse waveforms based on nonlinear laser dynamicsCharacterization, control, and sy"nchronization of nonlinear laser dynamicsApplications of nonlinear laser dynamics and their waveforms
