CSP - International Workshop on Energy, Propulsion and Environment
Abstract
Clean and sustainable energy is of pinnacle importance for all applications inpropulsion, power, energy, and mobility. The planned" workshop will bringtogether renowned experts from around the globe to share the latestfundamental and applied research innovations for cleaner energy utilization ina wide range of devices extending from hypersonic propulsion to micro scaleenergy conversion us"ing fossil and biofuels. The specific applications willinclude several specific research areas to include: hypersonic propulsion,c""ombustion of fossil and biofuels, clean energy conversion for variousstationary and propulsion applications (such as gas turbines a""nd rocketengines), high intensity combustion, modelling and advanced laserdiagnostics. Latest advances in the areas of biofuels pr""oduction and theircharacteristics, value added products from various feedstock materials will beof special interest. Thermal manag""ement, emission control and environmentalissues from selected energy conversion will also be explored. A round-tablediscussion wil"l also be held with the aim to identify key areas of commoninterest that will help develop strategy to promote collaborative research onthose focussed areas. The international collaborations will help identify keynovel technologies that show promise for viable" options for improvedperformance, efficient and sustainable energy conversion in defined powerand propulsion applications.Through"" international workshop we will bring together experts in selectedfields spanning from fuels, biofuels, their cleaner utilization i""n current andfuture platforms of power, mobility and propulsion. It will bring the awarenessto young scientists so that they know" the topics of significant importance towork on in their professional careers. The workshop will also bring networkingopportunities in the areas of common interest to all the participants. The workshop will have several tailored technical tracks with presentatio"nsform world renowned technical experts in the field fuels, combustion, powerand propulsion and air toxins with special focus on c""urrent and future R&Dneeds, challenges and opportunities. Since hydrocarbons fuel use isexpected to be major source of energy in a""ll sectors of power, transportationand propulsion for the foreseeable future, focussed research anddevelopment efforts are needed" to develop and deploy energy conversiontechnologies with minimum environmental footprint. The energy andenvironment sustainabilit"y would require a multi-pronged approach involvingdevelopment and utilization of new and renewable fuels, design of fuelflexibleco""mbustion systems that can be easily operated with the new fuels, and develop novel and environmentally friendly technologies for imp"rovedutilization of fuels with greater thermal management. We expect that this workshop will result in several international collaborationsin the near term as the topic of energy and environment is of pinnacleimportance to all invited at the workshop as well as" the technical internationalcommunity. In addition it will provide educational benefits to students, researchers and faculty in Ind""ia on the recent advances in specific topicalareas as well as learning pedagogy. A short course on experimental methods, renewable" energy and combustion and will be offered in conjunction with thisworkshop that will be of great interest to all the attendees including thestudents and research scholars. The topics of the short course as well as theinstructors will be published in the worksh"op program for larger draw ofstudents, research scholars and faculty from India and abroad to attend theshort courses offered. Exp"erimental methods as well as innovations in nonintrusive experimental methods will be one of the key attributes of the planned works"hop.WORKLSHOP/SYMPOSIUM TOPICSThe workshop topics would include, but not limited to:~ High speed combustion for propulsion~ Hype""rsonics and supersonic propulsion~ Biofuels, renewable fuels~ F
