CSP - Fatigue 2018, 12th International Fatigue Congress
Abstract
The International fatigue Congress series, initiated in Stockholm in 1981,has become, over the editions, the ~rendezvous~ of scient"ists from these differentfields involved in fatigue studies. The conference has been held in most of themajor countries contributi"ng to the development of research in fatigue worldwide. However, despite the fact that France was historically a major nation in the""domain of fatigue of materials, this International Fatigue Congress has neverbeen held in this country. Therefore it was decided d""uring the last conference inMelbourne in 2014 that France, and more precisely the Futuroscope area locatedin the ~Grand Poitiers~"" agglomeration, will host the Fatigue Congress in 2018.Staging the Fatigue~2018 in France, in Poitiers, will constitute a uniqueop""portunity for the French community, which is particularly active in the field asattested by publications in journals such as Intern""ational Journal of Fatigue, topresent its achievements, and reciprocally for the international community toextend their exchange w""ith the French and European colleagues.More specifically, the objectives of the conference will be to offer anoverview of cutting-"edge research works in the field by keeping in mind thetransfer of the knowledge to design and maintenance procedure. The technical program of the Fatigue~2018 Conference will take a similarformat as for the earlier edition of the IFC conference series. Experime"ntal, theoretical, modelling or simulation topics related to fatigue will be concerned forall classes of materials. Thematic sessio"ns will be organized to favour thescientific coherency of the program. The technical program will be adjustedfollowing the review of the submitted abstracts by the members of theInternational Scientific Committee. In addition a list of potential invited speake"rshas been established by the International Scientific committee. Typically eight toten plenary lectures are scheduled, where the"" main topics listed above will beaddressed. In addition, a balance must be achieved between the citizenships ofthe invited speaker""s, between cutting-edge research from academia andadvanced methodologies in industry, but also between well-known experts andyoung" leaders and new comers. Finally the proceedings of the conference will be published in MATEC Webof Conferences (www. matec-conferences.org). The key idea is to propose OpenAccess in order to enlarge as far as possible the audience of the conference. Asafe long#NAME?e papers will be given a DOI Name and indexed to CrossRef~. Registered attendees will also receive a copy of all the papers on an electronic support in addition to the abstract booklet.
