NICOP - CHARGE TRANSFER PLASMON METAMOLECULES FOR INFRARED OPTICAL THERAPY

Abstract

This proposal focuses on the production and evaluation of charge transfer plasmon (CTP)metamolecules for infrared optical therapy. Photothermal and photochemical inactivation ofmicroorganism assisted by CTP metamolecules will be demonstrated. An effective use ofnanostructures in medical application may be limited by the accumulation of nanoparticles inthe human body, leading to organ failure. CTP metamolecules may provide a solution to thisissue by enabling post-therapy particle size control, improving the nanostructure clearancefrom the body and establishing a new paradigm for metallic nanostructure in medical therapy.
