CSP - 8th International Conference on Unsolved Problems on Noise - UPoN2018
Abstract
Random fluctuations (noise), and their effect on systems, have always been aninterdisciplinary subject at the frontiers of scientific research. The aim of the UPoNconference is to provide a forum for researchers working at different fields of noise, fluctuations and variability, where they can present their unsolved scientific problemswhich do resist solutions and discuss together in a fruitful atmosphere. The 8th UPoN 2018 Conference will continue this tradition in a unique atmosphere ofhistoric city of Gda??sk, homeland of Fahrenheit, Hevelius and first scientificassociations established in Poland. The conference???s topics are: fluctuations in biological systems, fluctuations inmaterials and devices, noise in complex and non-linear systems, applications ofnoise, theory of noise and fluctuations, other topics of noise and fluctuationsincluding weather. The enumerated issues consider the hottest topics of scientific research, includingsoft-matter biological systems and fluctuations in new materials and sensors(microwave devices applied in radar systems, chemical gas sensing etc.), emergingapplications of noise in energy harvesting systems, secure communications, braininformatics, and data processing.Talks presented during the conference will cover open problems regarding boththeory and experiments. The conference represents the frontiers of this field and thegoal is to identify future directions and development. Not only solutions are expected in the conference, but also questions revolvingaround UNSOLVED PROBLEMS on NOISE are encouraged: "If I had an hour tosolve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55minutes determining the proper question to ask." [Albert Einstein]The conference tradition dictates that in order to be accepted each proposal (oral orposter papers) has to be reviewed using double-blind refereeing process by theScientific Committee. To favor cross-fertilization from different disciplines and knowledge transfer amongparticipants, during the one-week conference, no parallel sessions are foreseen.
