NICOP - A one-step process using intermetallics as platforms and precursors for catalysis

Abstract

???A one-step process using intermetallics as platforms and precursors for catalysis???We design to study catalytic properties and microstructures of catalysts synthesized by leachingdefinite Al-based binary intermetallic compounds doped with tiny amounts of catalytic elements. In this project, a given Intermetallic compound is treated as a platform to host a catalytic element, and upon leaching the catalytic atoms would rearrange spontaneously to form a nanostructure onan oxide or oxides formed concurrently. This is a one-step process only performed by leachingwhich is easy control and is much simpler than any traditional process, and since the formationof nanostructure and oxide would occur at the same time, much fine nanostructures and fascinatedcatalytic properties are highly expected. Through the present research efforts, the followingoutcomes are desired. Hopefully, this will contribute to improve the global environment.(1) A one-step process for new support catalysts would be established.Consequently, a new horizon of designing catalysts in terms of metallurgyhopefully will be created.(2) On the basis of the principle obtained in this project, novel style of catalystscould be designed intentionally.(3) Presentation in related conferences and publication in scientific journals will beexecuted certainly.
