UNDER-ICE and CANAPE: analysis and publication

Abstract

This is a 3-year joint project between Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center and Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The UNDER-ICE analysis will be connected to ONR Grant N00014-15-1-2068, Title: Canada Basin Acoustic Propagation Experiment (CANAPE). The UNDERICE experiment took place in the Fram Strait between Svalbard and Greenland. The experiment was deployed in 2014 and recovered in 2016, but the data processing and analysis are still continuing. The CANAPE experiment took place in the Beaufort Sea. The CANAPE mooring recovery cruise on the USCGC Healy was completed in mid-October 2017, and the data processing and analysis are just beginning. We propose in this project to coordinate the processing and analysis of the ocean acoustic tomography measurements from the UNDERICE and CANAPE projects, with the objective of comparing and contrasting tomographic measurements in quite different Arctic environments in the eastern and western Arctic.
