organizing of 22nd annual international seminar - New Trends in Research of Energetic Materials
Abstract
The New Trends in Research in Energetic Materials (NTREM) is the premier international conference in the area of the fundamental research in energetic materials in Eastern Europe ~ former Eastern Block and Former Soviet Union (FSU) countries. The NTREM Symposium provides a forum for the presentation of high-quality, original research covering various aspects of novel energetic materials. The field relies on a broad and interdisciplinary range of science including both theoretical and experimental developments. This symposium will bring together experts in chemistry and physics, detonics, and engineering to explore recent advances and emerging opportunities to develop superior performing solid rocket and gun propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnics; for various warhead, propulsion, and countermeasure applications. Topics include fundamental science in areas of new chemical synthetic, formulation, target compounds, characterization techniques, decomposition mechanisms, and structure property relationships, methods and strategies. The goal of the meeting is to provide a forum for the sharing of ideas, and to enhance communication among this diverse group of technical experts, thereby contributing to future advances in the field leading to the development of the next generation of energetic materials with enhanced properties in terms of both performance and insensitivity to undesired stimuli (shock, heat, friction, spark, and attack). These are mission critical objectives for the is of high value to the Energetic Materials initiatives being pursued by Codes 30, 33, and 35, and supports the NRE~s Framework Aviation, Force Projection & Integrated Defense & both the Sea Control and Power Projection CNOG 20 priority areas. New science reported at this meeting will be of particular value not only in the development of next generation energetic material systems but also their use in design and implementation of weapon and countermeasure systems with superior performance over current systems using ingredients and formulations that exhibit higher performance and superior resistance to detonation when subjected to attack or harsh environment over those currently available. The symposium organizers and selection panel are an international group of researchers, all of whom are highly experienced leaders in their country with expertise in the various subdisciplines of energetics.
