The 14th International Conference on Theoretical and Computational Acoustics (ICTCA2019)
Abstract
ICTCA 2019 is an international conference, to be held in Beijing, which brings together an international community of researchers in acoustics theory and modeling. It is the 14th conference of a series of biennial conferences that started in 1993 in Mystic, Connecticut and have since then rotated between various American, European and Asian cities. During ICTCA, researchers will discuss their latest research related to a variety of topics, including underwater acoustics, acoustical oceanography, ambient noise, medical ultrasound, and general wave propagation and scattering. This conference will showcase new methods of forward and inverse modeling relevant to underwater acoustics, and it will bring together a community of researchers from a variety of countries/regions, including China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Canada, USA, and possibly Russia.a) National Taiwan University (NTU), the institution of the PI and conference chairman, has an excellent research program in oceanography and underwater acoustics and has been a long-time partner in joint at-sea ocean and acoustic experiments with ONR-funded American investigators. NTU (and the PI for this conference) held a very successful workshop related to the Asian Seas International Acoustics Experiment about two decades ago, as well as a productive Pacific Rim Underwater Acoustics Conference just last year.b) The PI received her Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from MIT and has been the Director of the Ocean Technology Research Center at NTU for several years. She is an expert in ocean noise and acoustics and has been recognized for her research with national awards, including the Naval Medal of Achievement. She also knows and/or has collaborated with researchers from several of the countries attending the proposed ICTCA. She has helped assemble an excellent Scientific Committee and Local (Organizing) Committee to ensure success of this conference.
