The 12th IFAC Conference on Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics, and Vehicles (CAMS2019)
Abstract
The objective of the 12th International Federation on Automatic Control (IFAC) Conference on Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics, and Vehicles (CAMS 2019) is to bring together leading scholars, researchers and students in the field of marine robotics and control systems across academia and industry to exchange ideas and to promote collaborations. The conference covers the broad field of control engineering applied to marine systems, robotics and vehicles. Special emphasis will be given to coordinated and cooperative marine systems, fault tolerant and reconfigurable systems, navigation, guidance and control of various marine agents (e.g., autonomous surface and underwater vehicles, autonomous ships, and autonomous aerial vehicles for maritime domain). The organizing committee includes some of the most productive maritime autonomy researchers in Asia. The international keynote speakers will promise to deliver stimulating discussion. As such, I believe this conference will have a high technical merit. The topics covered by this conference (see above) are of great relevance to ONR, as these autonomous platforms are expected to be the key enablers in future Naval missions. The discussion herein, as well as the conference proceedings, will likely to be valuable as: (i) seed ideas for the future research grants related to the Undersea Battlespace and Maritime Domain Access IRP; and (ii) tools for global technology awareness. The final decision on the availability of funds is determined by the Technical Director (TD) upon the TD~s approval/disapproval in the PPS grant writing system. The TD can only approve a grant in PPS when sufficient funds are available.
