INDIA-USA LECTURE SERIES ON AGING AIRCRAFT

Abstract

Aging aircraft is an important area of concern in naval aviation for existing and future platforms. The subject matter is important from mission readiness, sustenance, performance, and fleet management. The aim of this lectures/workshop is to bring together academia and defense scientists from India and USA, exchange ideas, identify strengths, and help in establishing research collaboration. a. As a part of celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of its founding, the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore will be hosting a 3-~day seminar-~like series of lectures (LS) on Aging Aircraft in Bengaluru on November 27-~29, 2019. The program will consist of 20 presentations on various technical aspects surrounding the subject by a distinguished panel of national and international lecturers. Their scope will cover degradation, or technological obsolescence brought about by age, of Principal Structural Elements (PSEs), and some other important flight-~safety-~critical subsystems, thereby increasing the risk of failure. How to adequately surveil aging aircraft for airworthiness assurance will also be within the scope of the LS.
