27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2019)
Abstract
EUSIPCO (European Signal Processing Conference) is the flagship conference of EURASIP (European Association for Signal Processing) which takes place yearly and brings experts in signal processing together to explore the state-of-the-art in development of techniques and applications for different areas. Roughly, the typical number of attendees is on the order of 650 researchers. EUSIPCO 2019 is the 27th edition of this well-established international conference and will be held in the city of A Coru~a, Spain, from September 2 to 6, 2019. EUSIPCO 2019 is a technical event that will bring together researchers and practitioners from government, academia, and industry to discuss the ultimate advances on Signal Processing and their applications. EUSIPCO 2019 will have a highly international profile, and the Technical Program Committee comprises best world scientists in the signal processing field. The conference will offer plenary sessions, given by renowned scientists on key topics of research and development, and oral and poster parallel scientific sessions, where participants can present their most recent results on the different topics of the conference. EUSIPCO 2019 will feature at least four renowned plenary speakers and ten cuttingedge tutorials, available to the conference attendees. This year~s conference attracted a record number of attendees, around 750, from all over the world. EUSIPCO 2019 will feature world-class speakers, oral and poster sessions, plenaries, exhibitions, demonstrations, tutorials, and satellite workshops, and is expected to attract many leading researchers and industry figures from all over the world. EUSIPCO 2019 will cover a broad array of topics related to statistical signal processing applied to a wide variety of areas. Some topics of the interest to the Navy are: ~ Radar and sonar signal processing ~ Audio and acoustic signal processing ~ Image and video processing ~ Sensor array and multichannel signal proc. ~ Signal processing for communications ~ Nonlinear signal processing ~ Compressed sensing and sparse modelling ~ Machine learning Luis Castedo has been a Faculty Member with the Department of Computer Engineering, University of A Coru~a, since 1994, where he became Professor in 2001 and acted as Chairman between 2003 and 2009. He had previously held several research appointments at the University of Southern California (USC) and ~cole sup~rieure d ~lectricit~ (SUPELEC). Prof. Castedo is coauthor of more than 260 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He has also been principal investigator in more than 50 research projects funded by public organizations and private companies. 2) Signal processing is of great interest to the Office of Naval Research (ONR). Signal Processing is fundamental for the activities of ONR Departments Code 31 (Information, Cyber and Spectrum Superiority) and Code 32 (Ocean Battlespace and Expeditionary Access). More specifically, Division 321 (Ocean Sensing and Systems Applications Division) includes a Program on Undersea Signal Processing whose goal is to improve the Navy s ability to detect, identify and locate submarines in shallow and deep ocean environments. In the past, ONR Global (ONRG) supported the Eighth IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel (IEEE SAM 2014) Signal Processing Workshop held in A Coru~a, Spain, from June 22 to June 25, 2014. ONR also supported the student paper competition of IEEE SAM 2012 in New York. More recently, ONRG sponsored IEEE SAM 2018 held in Sheffield, UK. EUSIPCO is significantly larger than IEEE SAM workshops which are typically attended by 150-200 people. The National Science Foundation (NSF) of the United States will be financing several grants for undergraduate and graduate students to attend EUSIPCO 2019. 3) The final decision on the availability of funds is determined by the Technical Director (TD) upon the TD~s approval/disapproval in the PPS grant writing system". The TD can only approve a grant in PPS
