8th Asia Pacific Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring

Abstract

This is the eighth in a series of biennial Asia-Pacific workshops focusing on the field ofStructural Health Monitoring (SHM). These workshops have been developed to respond to themounting cost burden of ageing infrastructure which is impacting government, military andindustry budgets around the world. As an intrinsically multidisciplinary field, SHM is ideallyplaced to foster the development of scientific and technological solutions to this growingproblem. Forums such as this workshop represent the best opportunity for scientists fromdifferent disciplines to come together to share and exchange ideas and perspectives toward thedevelopment of new and innovative solutions. This workshop is also important in fostering acollaborative approach to research amongst delegates to leverage respective strength. Thisworkshop is a forum where key and emerging technical issues that are critical and unique instructural health monitoring can be discussed and identified, as well as allow current state-ofthe-art technologies and R&D activities in the field to be presented. The workshop is alsointended to promote exchanges and cross-fertilisation among many disciplines.
