15th International Fischer Symposium

Abstract

The International Fischer Symposium (IFS) is a well established and highly reputed triannual meeting, held since 1979 in honour of i,nternational renowned scientist Prof. Hellmuth Fischer (1902 - 1976). In concept similar to the Gordon Research Conferences, the mee, ting aims at bringing together prominent top level experts and young scientists in an open atmosphere. The conference has traditiona, lly been the place where the relations between electrochemistry and other fields of science are discussed and interdisciplinary appr, oaches are developed. Central topics have been interfacial and nanoscale aspects of electrochemistry. In this field the IFS has had,a pioneering role, discussing these topics since the very beginnings of nanoscience. The 15th meeting, scheduled June 2022 in Seeon,, Germany, will gather experimentalists and theoreticians, who are working in the field of electrochemistry at the nanometer scale a,nd thus are of fundamental importance to naval research. Topics will include but not be limited to electrochemical surface science,,electrochemical energy conversion and storage, electrodeposition of nanomaterials, nanoscale studies of corrosion phenomena, organi,c molecules and biomolecules at electrochemical interfaces, electrochemistry of nanoparticles, and nanostructuring methods. As in t,he past symposia, the Fischer medal of the DECHEMA society will be awarded and the contribution to the meeting will be collected in,a special issue of the Journal Electrochimica Acta.
