Grants biocat2022 congress
Abstract
Project AbstractTitle: 10th International Congress on Biocatalysis (biocat2022), Hamburg, Germany, 28th August 1st September 2022,https://www.biocat-conference.de/Institution: Principal Investigator: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Garabed Antranikian, Hamburg University of,Technology (TUHH), Institute of Technical Biocatalysis - Center for Biobased Solutions (CBBS), Hamburg, Germany The transition to a,sustainable bio-based circular economy requires cutting edge technologies that ensure economic growth with environmentally responsib,le action. This transition will only be feasible when the opportunities of biotechnology are exploited. The future challenges, which, include utilization of natural resources, food supply, health, energy and the environment, can only be met in an interdisciplinary, manner. Especially biocatalysts offer huge potential to master the future challenges of our planet. It is a topic based on the edge,of various disciplines including biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, engineering and logistics. The 10th International Cong, ress on Biocatalysis (biocat2022) is part of a biennial conference series, which was established in 2002. The congress series has c,overed the most exciting aspects and the latest developments in biocatalysis, including enzyme discovery, evolution, application, bi,oprocess engineering, systems biology, biorefinery and bioeconomy. The Biocat congress is aimed at integrating the know-how of highly, acknowledged biologists, biochemists, chemists and engineers from academia and industry and therefore offers a platform to form str, ategic alliances for future projects and innovations in the following topics: Computational analysis for enzyme discovery and desig,n Structure-function analysis and enzyme optimization Enzymatic and whole-cell biotransformation Reaction cascades Bioelectroch, emical as well as chemo-/photoenzymatic Bioprocess engineering Synthesis of biodegradable materials and energy generation Carb,on dioxide based biotechnology Sustainable industrial processes, biorefinery and bioeconomyThis conference will offer space for bo,th well-established scientists as well as for young researchers to enter an international scientific atmosphere by giving oral prese, ntations or the well-established short lightning talks. By offering 12 travel grants to young researchers from various disciplines a,nd countries we will stimulate exchange of ideas and know-how in an open atmosphere. The scientific areas will include biotransforma, tion and bioprocess engineering. The meeting will provide young researchers a forum for debate and discussion and the opportunity to, build an international network. A wide range of important fundamental issues that are crucial for the development of innovative and, sustainable technologies, especially modern biotechnology, will be discussed. We are convinced that this initiative will further su,pport collaboration of the young researchers from different disciplines in the future and help them to gain novel insights into mode,rn topics and techniques of the rapidly growing field of biotechnology. In the long run this will contribute to solving the global c,hallenges, which include utilization of natural resources, food supply, health and energy.
