Knowledge exchange-based approaches for planning problems

Abstract

In computational intelligence, there exist several methods to promote the optimizer by exchanging information between related problems. These techniques belong to a group of algorithms called Knowledge exchange optimization. It encourages new online approaches that can harness recurrent patterns between problem-solving exercises, which mitigates the lack of prior knowledge. This project focuses on two trending directions in knowledge exchange optimization: multitask optimization and multiform optimization. Both of which solve multiple tasks concurrently to solve one or many problems. We design new techniques to overcome some drawbacks in existing knowledge exchange algorithms and improve the overall performance. The proposed methods are also applied in some complex planning applications.
