International Congress on Soldiers Physical Performance

Abstract

The future operating environment and the requirements of the Future Soldier within these environments are unclear, but the nature of conflict will likely be different than today and will rapidly evolve. The Future Soldier must be physically and psychologically robust to meet the demands placed on them and optimised closer to their biological potential to enhance lethality, warfighting capability, and people capability. To help realise the Future Soldier vision, the British Army are hosting the Sixth International Congresson Soldiers# Physical Performance (ICSPP). ICSPP is a world leading conference in applied military human performance, attracting world leading academics, and is held every three years by a different country. The ICSPP 2023 will be held as an in-person conference from 12-14 September 2023, and the congress will be co-located with Defence and Equipment Security International (DSEI) and the Committee of the Chiefs of Military Medical Services in NATO (COMEDS) at the ExCel, London. This year#s theme, Future Soldier: Delivering Human Advantage, will bring together medical, military, and scientific experts to exchange ideas, promote international knowledge transfer, present new data, and collectively enable our soldiers to deliver human advantage. The ICSPP program will cover: human augmentation; optimization and enhancement of physical, cognitive, social, psychological, and behavioral performance; metabolic, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and female physiology; health and wellbeing; injury; trial design; data analytics; environmental factors; human machine teaming and futures science and technology. Specific Objectives: #Learn from International experts to leverage the latest knowledge and innovation in the human advantage domain to support basic science research. #Translate knowledge and evidence for the benefit of the military to enable a stronger strategic response to the future battlefield challenges. Naval and scientific significance: Warfighter Performance is critical to the Navy and Marine Corp mission. Future mission needs will be met not only with rapidly evolving technologies but with innovation leading to next generation platforms and technologies.
