36th Conference on Graphics Patterns and Images SIBGRAPI 2023 22nd Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment SBGAMES 2023 25th Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality SVR2023

Abstract

SIBGRAPI, SBGAMES, and SVR are the flagship conferences of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) in their respective fields. SIBGRAPI is a leading annual event in Latin America promoted by the Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics, Pattern Recognition and Image Processing (CEGRAPI) of the SBC. It started in 1988 and combines contributions from computer graphics and vision, pattern recognition, and image processing. It comprises the main conference and several co-located workshops and tutorials. Being organized by an international committee, it is a high-quality scientific conference at a low cost for students, academics, and industry researchers. The proceedings have been published by IEEE Xplore since 1997. The consistency, high scientific quality, and relevant impact of SIBGRAPI have supported its current top-7 position among conferences on graphics worldwide, according to Google Metrics 2023. RegardingSBGAMES, it is the largest scientific event on games and digital entertainment in Latin America. It gathers every year approximately 1,000 participants, including researchers, students, and entrepreneurs, in these relevant areas of investigation, development, andinnovation. Historically, the conference attendees have come from Brazil and abroad, including countries such as Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, England, and Portugal. In the current format, the SBGAMES comprises five main tracks, which include Computing, Arts and Design, Industry, Culture, and Education. Besides that, the event also hosts a games festival, an art exhibition, tutorials, and workshops. The diversity of these satellite events also encourages the participation of students from elementary and high schools. Finally, the SVR is the premier conference on virtual and augmented realities in Brazil. It is annually promoted by the Special Interest Group on Virtual Reality (CERV) of the SBC. The last editions of SVR were held In-Cooperation with the ACM/SIGGRAPH.The event comprisesseveral activities, including tutorials, workshops, national and international keynote talks, technical scientific sessions, demo sessions, and the exhibition of products by companies operating in the RA and RV industries.Since 2018, the SIBGRAPI, the SBGAMES, and the SVR have been co-organized and hosted jointly on an itinerant basis, aiming for a larger integration and even more participation of the respective scientific communities in the country. In the last few years, the conferences have been sponsored by companies and institutions such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, Globo.com, Itaú Bank, Unreal Engine, Unity, NVIDIA, Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Brazilian Federal Government, several state councils for scientific, and technological development. The C3/FURGproposal for hosting the SIBGRAPI (http://sibgrapi.c3.furg.br/) / SBGAMES (https://sbgames.org/sbgames2023/) / SVR (http://svr.c3.furg.br/) 2023 was accepted last year by the corresponding SBC Special Interest Groups. Since the approval, the organization committee has begun holding regular meetings to plan and execute all the work required for the fruition of the events. The conferences will take place concurrently on November 6#9, 2023, at the university s campus in Rio Grande, RS, Brazil. Importantly, the local committee and the general chairs have experience hosting similar events on the same premises (e.g., Robotica 2019 - SBC/RoboCup Brazil/IEEE), giving even more confidence to the organization team to carry on the current planning.
