Symposium of Nanoscience and Nanomaterials 2024
Abstract
Since 1995 the Center of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CNyN), UNAM, Campus Ensenada, created in 2008), has carried out uninterruptedly this event whose main goal is presenting the latest results on Materials Science from research performed in prestigious institutions of Mexico and abroad. In the first sixteen editions, the Symposium was named #Simposio en Ciencia de Materiales#; years later, between 2012 and 2014, the Symposium name was changed according to its new international scope and a changed name of our institution: Centro de Nanociencias y Nanotecnologia (CNyN). In these years this event was named International Symposium on Nanoscience and Nanomaterials. In 2015 the event went back to a national scope and its name switched to Simposio de Nanociencias y Nanomateriales. From 2018 the Symposium of Nanoscience and Nanomaterials (IV SNN) has been jointly organized by CNyN and CICESE (Centro de Investigación CientÃfica y Estudios Superiores de Ensenada). To date, there have been 25 editions of this academic event presenting the opportunity to stimulate interactions, exchange experiences and strengthen or initiate new collaborations. In 2024, the symposium opened to the three principal Research and Education institutions of the State of Baja California, as the Centro de Nanociencias y NanotecnologÃa (CNyN) de la UNAM, Centro de Investigación CientÃfica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, and the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (FIAD, FC), which are co-organizing the Symposium of Nanoscience and Nanomaterials 2024 (SNN 2024), to be held May 13 to 18th, 2024, in Ensenada. The objective of this event is to gather researchers and students from different regions of México and the USA in Nanoscience and Nanomaterials in Ensenada, to share their new results of research, open scientific discussions, and promote new collaborations. Is relevant to mention that the study of materials at the nanoscale is an important area of research in Ensenada. It must be noticedalso that the area of Nanoscience and Nanomaterials is very promising in the 21st century and can create a lot of opportunities for new technological projects. We are very convinced that the organization of the Symposium on Nanoscience and Nanomaterials 2024 will contribute to improving the strength of research and technology groups in Baja California and México. At this time the SNN 2024 will recognize the famous Professor of Physics Richard Feynman, who was the first one in anticipate the importance offundamental studies at the nanoscale, in his 1959 conference in Caltech, #There is plenty of room at the bottom#. We hope that the example of Richard Feynman can motivate many students to improve their learning and research abilities. As plenary speakers, Professors from the USA, France, and Germany have been invited to the SNN 2024. They confirmed his participation. This symposium will contribute to the state of the art in research at the nanoscale on several hot topics as; Machine Learning and Data Mining, Quantum Dynamics, Nanophotonics, Surface Nanocharacterization, Hydrogen generation by photocatalysis and Catalytic transformation of CO2 to valuable chemicals. The organizing committee hopes that this symposium will contribute to improving the knowledge of young researchers and students so that they can realize better studies at the nanoscale, advancing the state of the art in their areas of research. We alsohope that this symposium ultimately will contribute to improving the education level, as well as the development of nanotechnology in the northwest region of México.
