European Seminar on Computing ESCO 2024 interdisciplinary international conference
Abstract
European Seminar on Computing (ESCO) was planned and conceptualized by applied scientists and engineers from several Universities in the Czech Republic, to provide an international platform where researchers from around the world can disseminate, publish, and have interdisciplinary meetings with other researchers to learn about the newest trends and results in applied mathematics and interdisciplinary computing. The focus of the conference is strongly multidisciplinary. In 2024, a large part of the conference consists of a section dedicated to climate change modeling (more than 40 participants). The topic is highly current with an overlap into a largenumber of industries. The results can be directly used by, for example, the navy or the aviation industry. The first ESCO 2008 was held at Jetrichovice, Czech Republic on June 8-13, 2008. Its proceedings appeared as a special issue of Math. Comput. Sim. (MATCOM), a peer-reviewed international journal with an impact factor.ESCO 2010 was held in Pilsen, Czech Republic on June 28 - July 2, 2010. The proceedings of ESCO 2010 appeared as a special issue of Communications in Computational Physics (2008 SCI impact factor 2.33) and Appl. Math. Comput. (2008 SCI impact factor 0.961).From 2012 to 2018, ESCO was attended every two years by at least 250 researchers from many different countries. The thematic areas evolved following the newest computing trends in applied engineering and science. ESCO 2020 and ESCO 2022 felt the effect of SARS-COVID19, but this pandemic was not a reason to cancel the ESCO congress. Thanks to modern communication technologies, ESCO 2020 was 100% online, and ESCO 2022 had a combined in-person and online format. The quality of the lectures and of the peer-reviewed proceedings were not less than in the previous ESCO congresses. The ESCO congress includes minisymposia that consist of at least four lectures related to the same topic. Such a minisymposium can be proposed by any participant of ESCO. Another very important characteristic of the ESCO congress is that it includes a cultural session from the Czech Republic.European Seminar on Computing (ESCO) 2024 is the 9th event in a successful series of interdisciplinary international conferences. It promotes modern technologies and practices in scientific computing and visualization. It strengthens the interaction between researchers and practitioners in various areas of computational engineering, sciences, and education. The conference will take place in person, but online participation will be possible. Like always, the peer reviewed proceedings will be published in respectable international journals with impact factor, including CiSE (Computing in Science & Engineering), Computers and Structures, and MCS (Mathematics and Computer Science).
