2025 IEEE Underwater Technology (UT)

Abstract

1 The biennial Underwater Technology Symposium (UT) is the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) and OES Japan chapter#s flag shipsymposium for emerging underwater technology and its applications. UT#s aims are to1) promote collaboration between underwater researcher from around the world, especially in Asian Countries, 2) provide opportunity and encouragement for young researchers in bothacademia and industry. The first UT symposium was held in Tokyo Japan in 1998. Since then it has grown into a globally recognized brand that bridges industry and academia. Although UT is well attended by participants from around the world, it#s focus is on researchers in Asia, and the symposium has been hosted not only in Japan, but also in Taipei (2004), China (2009), India(2015), South Korea (2017) and Kaohsiung (2019). UT21 on-line and UT23 was held in Tokyo. Then, after almost 20 years, UT25 will come back to Taipei in March 2025, in collaboration with IEEE OES Taipei Chapter and other organizations in Taiwan.2 By gathering the researchers and engineers related to underwater technology from around the world and facilitating their active discussion, UT25 will energize theinternational underwater technology related research community, incubate international collaborations, and enable future innovations. 3 From Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG), Dr. Richard Yamada has expressed his interest in attending. From the international underwater technology community, we expect to gather approximately 100 researchers and engineers from academic institutions and industries for the UT25. The international participants will include invited experts on underwater technology from USA, Japan and Asian countries. 4 UT25 will result in increased international collaborations among underwater technology related researchers and engineers. Conference proceedings will be published in IEEE Xplore. Improvement of the presented papers at the technical sessions will be recommended for submission to IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering.
