International Conference entitled "PDEs 2025: Recent Developments in Theory and Applications"

Abstract

Partial differential equations (PDEs) are a fundamental tool in the modeling of phenomena in the natural sciences and engineering, from fluid flow to heat conduction, from tumor growth to financial market dynamics. While their myriad applications have been highlighted in recent years, theoretical research on PDEs is also interesting in its own right. In 2014, a CIMPA Research School entitled Partial Differential Equations: Analysis, Numerics and Applications to Floods and Tsunamis was organized at the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics. This was followed by the International Conference on Partial Differential Equations: General Theory and Variational Problems held in Mactan, Cebu in 2016. As both activities were well-received, there were informal talks about a follow-up conferenceseveral years thereafter. Unfortunately, the plan was not realized until the onset of the pandemic. The proposed conference that will be held next year is some sort of a follow through of the aforementioned scientific activities.Entitled PDEs 2025: Recent in Theory and Applications, the conference intends to again bring together mathematicians from Europe, Japan, South Asia and Southeast Asia, to re-establish the friendly ties between the participants of the 2016 Conference, and to further expand this network of researchers doing work on theoretical and applied PDEs. To date, about twenty foreign invited speakers have confirmed their participation. Onthe local side, the organizers expect 30-40 participants, composed mostly of young PhDs and graduate students.
