Bridging Excellence in AI Science India-Japan Meeting on the Nobel Turing Challenge
Abstract
We propose conducting an India-Japan meeting for fostering research collaborations, tentatively named, "Bridging Excellence in AI Science # India-Japan Meeting on the Nobel Turing Challenge". This Meeting aims to bring together researchers and innovation teams from India and Japan to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and facilitate discussions surrounding the potential of AI-driven scientific discovery within the context of the Nobel Turing Challenge. The overall objective of this meeting will be to create a platform where select researchers, startups, and academics from India and Japan can get together and exchange ideas. The meeting will focus onhighlighting the prospects of developing the AI Scientist as outlined in the Nobel Turing challenge. The theme of the meeting will be to emphasise the role of global collaboration, in this instance between the Indian and Japanese scientific communities, to createan environment conducive to fruitful discussions and explorations within the framework of the Nobel Turing Challenge. The proposed meeting will span two days, mainly around the themes of knowledge-sharing and brainstorming. It will be held in person in Tokyo. The itinerary encompasses a series of presentations, interactive panel discussions, and breakout sessions. Topics covered will encompassthe intricacies and opportunities presented by AI-driven scientific discovery, the nuances of developing AI Scientists, and the profound implications of the Nobel Turing Challenge on the trajectory of scientific and technological advancement. Our expected outcomesfrom the meeting are:# Shared knowledge and ideas between Indian and Japanese AI experts. # New collaboration possibilities for theNobel Turing Challenge. # Stronger connections among researchers, startups, and academia in India. The above outcomes align with theplan s goal of fostering international partnerships to advance the Office of Naval Research Global. The relevance of our proposed program to the broaderU.S. Naval/Marine Corps Science & Technology Plan are:#Bilateral Collaboration: This event will foster collaboration between two potential AI research powerhouses, India and Japan, which could lay the foundation for a robust international hub for AI innovation.#Accelerating AI Technologies: This workshop aligns with the acceleration of AI, autonomous systems, and data-driven decision-making, all of which are significant focal points within the U.S. Naval and Marine Corps Science & Technology Plan
