MAGICAL: Machine Generated Analog IC Layout

Abstract

The scope of this effort is to implement Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools that will drastically reduce the amount of time that is necessary implement analog integrated circuits (ICs). Unlike the EDA technology for digital circuitry, which is quite mature, the EDA technology for the analog part is far from industrial use, although some exciting research results appear. Most analog layout generation is still heavily manual, which is very tedious and error-prone. This project aims to develop a machine intelligence-based analog synthesis system that can enable complete design automation from draft (high-level intent) to craft (fully optimized layout).
