Environmentally Adaptive Off-Board Acoustic Sensing Concept for the Rapidly Changing Arctic Ocean

Abstract

This fundamental research is aimed at identifying and quantifying the sonar performance gains that can be achieved by an undersea surveillance network in the partially ice-covered Arctic Ocean by exploiting environmentally adaptive horizontal and vertical mobility.
