Spectral Combs from UV to THz SCOUT

Abstract

In quantum cascade laser (QCL) microcombs, by integrating gain medium and dispersion-compensated resonator into a monolithic package, broadband frequency combs can be generated in the Terahertz (THz) and Long Wave Infrared (LWIR), with power levels greater than 25 μW per line. This could enable systems with part-per-billion sensitivity in gas sensing with great selectivity with >400 comb lines at THz and >2000 comb lines at LWIR.
