Environmental Support at Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station, Kaena Pt, Hawaii
Abstract
Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects pertaining to installation’s environmental programs affecting cultural and natural resources through application of professional knowledge and skill in the practices, processes, and techniques of one or more of the following disciplines: Biological Scientist; Environmental Scientist; and Physical Scientist. Assignments pertain to (1) problems encountered in achieving compliance with Federal, state, and local environmental control regulations (e.g. air, water, noise, solid waste, etc.); (2) the full range of domestic and industrial waste water treatment and disposal to include toxic chemicals; (3) oversight of and/or preparation and updating of inventories and corrective measures to reduce pollutants emitted to water, atmosphere, or land from the installation and operations, or constitute a health hazard to an installation or adjacent civilian communities; coordination of actions required for design and construction, and/or preparation of guidelines or instructions as required to ensure compliance with environmental compliance regulations; (4) review and oversight of environmental compliance management/contingency plans; and (5) programs directly related to environmental compliance issues such as hazardous waste, chemical and biological treatment of domestic, industrial and chemical wastes generated at the installation, and disposal and recycling of trash and refuse. (6) support functions including reporting, planning, and execution, auditing and analysis, education and training, data management, and policy and guidance.
