7.3 Polymer Chemistry. Understanding the Novel Stimuli Responsive Transport Properties of Multifunctional, Nanostructured Block Polymer Membranes

Abstract

We will be able to determine: 1) how block polymer architecture affects the membrane nanostructure, 2) how the membrane nanostructure and functionality affects the rate of solvent flow and solute permeation through the membrane, and 3) how these transport properties influence the kinetic response of the membrane to specific external stimuli. In this way, clear relationships between polymer chemistry, transport properties, and membrane performance in response to external stimuli will be established.
