Advanced Research Workshop on Future Trends in Microelectronics: Journey into the Unknown

Abstract

Provide an international forum for stimulation and envisioning of ideas, concepts and approaches for advancing the state-of-the-art of of microelectronics. Assemble internationally known scientists, including Nobel laureates, researchers, visionary academics, captains of industry, and influential representatives of government agencies in microelectronics in order to stimulate dialogue on newly advancing disciplines beyond present electronics technology. The conference will be held from 21-26 June 2015 in Mallorca, Spain which was chosen for its advantageous location assessable to all the international participants and with an atmosphere and environment conducive and fostering of the anticipated intensive technical dialogue. Attendance is by invitation only and is limited to around 60 people to create a workshop atmosphere with free-spirited exchange of views. The FTM workshop will include invited oral presentations detailing each speaker s vision of the future development in a given area, as well as panel sessions where debate and rebuttals will be encouraged. Unusually, the oral presentation speakers will be asked to focus on their assessments and critiques of important new ideas or approaches, and not on their own achievements. The latest advances and results obtained by the participants will be presented in afternoon poster sessions. The working days will be concluded by evening panel sessions to continue the debate on selected issues raised during the day. Each session will be forcefully chaired to bring out the the controversial aspects of any given futuristic technology in the hopeless task of forging a consensus about its prospects.
