Improved Qubit Measurement through Background-free Detection of Trapped Ion Fluorescence

Abstract

Experimentally improve state detection of Yb+ ions. This effort will experimentally design and construct an external flouresence collection system using fast electronics for improved quantum state detection times and higher fidelities.
