2016 Image Science Gordon Research Conference
Abstract
This proposal requests support for the 2016 Image Science Gordon Research Conference (GRC). The Theme of the conference is ÒFrom Detection to DecisionÓ. Conference sessions are organized around the sequence of steps that begins with detection and concludes with decisions designed to increase human utility. These steps are common across the wide diversity of imaging systems. Accordingly, the conference will bring together imaging scientists in such diverse application areas as medicine, defense, remote sensing, homeland security, and astronomy, who face common challenges in the design and evaluation of imaging systems. Conference organizers intend to encourage the attendance of early-career investigators through scholarships to ensure significant participation by the most promising young scientists in the field, providing them the opportunity to develop collaborations and supportive mentoring relationships with senior researchers. Attendance at the meeting will enhance the research potential of the trainees and the likelihood of their success as independent investigators.
