Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells Symposium 15

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to provide Travel Grants and Student/Postdoc Awards for the 15th Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell Symposium Oct. 11-16, 2015, Phoenix, AZ. The funding requested will be used to support travel and registration for students and post docs attending the conference. This international symposium is devoted to all aspects of research, development, and engineering of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), as well as low-temperature direct-fuel cells using either anion or cation exchange membranes. The intention is to bring together the international community working on the subject and to enable effective interactions between research and engineering communities. The symposium has been expanded this year to six different sections covering Diagnostics/Characterization Methods, MEA Design, Model Fuel Cell Systems, Stack/BOP Design, Gas Processing, Cation-Exchange Membrane Performance & Durability, Catalyst Activity/Durability for Hydrogen(- Reformate) Acidic Fuel Cells, Materials for Alkaline Fuel Cells and Direct-Fuel Fuel Cells, plus a sixth new session on Polymer-Electrolyte Electrolysis. Experts working in these three areas will be presenting on their fundamental and engineering research, the success of which is required to enable the large-scale commercial success of fuel cells and fuel cell systems.
