Criticality and Information Fragility in Complex Systems - 10.4.2 Information Structure, Causality, and Dynamics for Control

Abstract

As a short restatement of our original proposal, the central goal of the project is to develop principal measures and methods to quantify fragility and robustness of complex systems. Ultimately, the question of fragility and robustness concerns if and how the macroscopic behavior of a system will change in response to local and microscopic perturbations. In particular, complexity can indicate fragility, and the same complex system can be both fragile and robust, depending on the nature of the perturbations.
