Search for novel topological phases and excitations in superconductor - quantum Hall hybrid samples

Abstract

The goals of the present project are: 1) To firmly identify the propagation of electronic excitations along superconductor Ð quantum Hall interfaces; 2) To engineer robust superconducting/quantum Hall hybrid devices based on quasi-1D geometries with electrostatic control of the edges; 3) To explore the electronic properties of interfaces between a superconductor and a strongly correlated QH state, and to create and measure Majorana zero modes and parafermions.
